Pale Ale

Pale Ale

At Hopfnung.ch, we use Pale Ale as a generic term for various beer styles, such as APA, NEPA or as well English Bitter and is probably one of the most popular beer styles at craft beer breweries around the world. Pale Ale is a top-fermented beer and belongs to the family of English Ales. In England, before the 18th century, only dark beers were common, and pale ale was only introduced to the islanders' pubs afterwards. By the 19th century, however, pale ales were widespread and their popularity received a further boost from the craft beer scene.

American Pale Ale

We would like to mention in particular the American Pale Ale, which only officially appeared on the market for the first time in 1980. The craft beer pioneers of Sierra Nevada Brewery had launched this new beer style. The APA is characterized by a more intense hopping.
