Porter

Porter

Dark and often jet black, Porter has a malty and sometimes roasted malt flavor. This tart beer is often heavily hopped. The porter beer variety was extremely popular in the 18th century, but today it is more of a niche product and, thanks to the long storage time, also capital-intensive. A porter is a pleasure beer, which is produced mostly by microbreweries. While Porter is a top-fermented beer, Baltic Porter is mostly a bottom-fermented beer and originates from the Baltic Sea region. Baltic Porter has a higher alcohol content. Porter is not to be confused with stout, although the two beers are closely related and stout originated from stronger porter beers.
