Wheat Ale

Weissbier, White Beer, Wheat Beer, Wheat Ale

The typical top-fermented beer from Bavaria is called Weissbier or wheat beer. Wheat Ale is also in demand today as Hefeweizen and is known to be particularly digestible, even isotonic. Weissbier, by the way, has nothing to do with the color of the beer, but with top-fermented beer production and the use of wheat malt. Weissbier is produced with top-fermenting yeast from wheat malt and barley malt. Weissbier, resp. wheat beer are synonyms and only moderately hopped. Thus, only a slight bitterness develops, but a greater original wort content. These wonderful beers are rich in carbonic acid and have a great variety of flavors.
