The certification ceremony for the GastroSuisse "Swiss Beer Sommelier / Sommeliere®" specialist seminar took place on 28 June 2023. Chris Lusser from Hopfnung.ch is one of the certified beer sommeliers.
Chris Lusser from the craft beer shop Hopfnung.ch in Altdorf/UR attended the «Swiss Beer Sommelier / Sommeliere®» training course and successfully completed it with a certificate.
The training, organised by GastroSuisse in close cooperation with the Swiss Brewers Association, stands for sound and practical training. During the part-time seminar, the prospective beer sommeliers learnt everything they need to know about beer.
For the final seminar paper, the candidates had to develop a beer offer for a predefined catering establishment and present this offer to the examination experts. The experts also checked whether the candidates had acquired sufficient knowledge on the subject of beer. In addition to the basics of food law, sensory skills were also tested during the examination and the future beer sommeliers had to describe various beers.
Chris Lusser has successfully passed the demanding final examination and can now pass on his knowledge as a certified beer sommelier.
