Chris Lusser, CEO of SQURI AG and founder of Hopfnung.ch, obtained his beer sommelier diploma from Doemens in Munich in December 2023. This award underlines his dedication and expertise in the world of craft beer.

Chris Lusser, CEO of SQURI AG and the face behind Hopfnung.ch, a craft beer specialist from Uri, recently reached a significant milestone. In December 2023, he successfully completed his training to become a "Diplom Biersommelier" at Doemens, a prestigious German educational institute for beverages and food.

The "Diplom Biersommelier" training programme at Doemens has been a success story since its launch in 2004. To date, more than 2000 German-speaking participants have been inspired by the passion for beer and use the knowledge they have acquired in a variety of ways in the brewing, catering and retail sectors. Doemen's "Diplom Biersommeliers" are highly regarded for their comprehensive expertise and passion for beer. Many of them are active in the Association of Beer Sommeliers in order to strengthen the image of beer culture and bring the profession of beer sommelier into the public eye.

The worldwide recognition of Doemens is reflected in the successful establishment of the training programme in 17 countries and on four continents. With an international network of over 6000 "graduate beer sommeliers", Doemens sets standards in beer education. Every two years, the World Cup of Beer Sommeliers takes place, an event at which the best beer sommeliers in the world compete against each other.

Training at Doemens is officially recognised as further education. It is aimed not only at professionals in the catering, retail and brewing industries, but also at beer enthusiasts and hobby brewers who want to professionalise their passion.

Chris Lusser already obtained the "Swiss Beer Sommelier / Sommeliere®" certificate from GastroSuisse in collaboration with the Swiss Brewery Association in June 2023. This qualification stands for sound, practical training and perfectly complements his latest achievement at Doemens. His commitment and expertise in the world of beer are a shining example for the up-and-coming craft beer scene in Switzerland and beyond.
