The best way to store beer

It is particularly important to store craft beer in a cool place. Ideally, the temperature should be between 5°C and 10°C. Higher temperatures can lead to faster ageing of the beer and impair the fine flavours.

Craft beer is known for its variety and complexity of flavours, which are created through the use of high-quality ingredients and special brewing techniques. To preserve these subtle flavours and the freshness of the beer, proper storage is crucial.

It is particularly important to store craft beer in a cool place. Ideally, the temperature should be between 5°C and 10°C. Higher temperatures can lead to faster ageing of the beer and impair the fine flavours. Heat can also accelerate chemical reactions in the beer, which can lead to undesirable changes in flavour.

Another important reason for cool storage concerns top-fermented beers in particular: these can undergo secondary fermentation under unfavourable conditions. Heat encourages this process, which can lead to an unexpected change in the flavour profile and even to increased carbonation. Not only can this affect the quality and character of the beer, but in rare cases it can also lead to overpressurisation in the can or bottle.

We recommend storing barrel-aged beers in a dark and cool cellar or, as described above, in the refrigerator. Some speciality beers behave in the same way as a good wine. Depending on how it is stored, the flavour profile of a beer can change positively even after years. The best-before date is not relevant here. We will go into this point in more detail in another blog.

We therefore recommend that you store your craft beer in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and large temperature fluctuations. If you have any questions about storage or our beers, we are always happy to help.

We would like to thank you for your trust in our products and wish you continued enjoyment with our unique craft beers.
